NVizcaya DepEd exec warns teachers on pols' campaign in graduation rites

    Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (March 12) -- An executive of the Department of Education (DepEd) here has warned teachers and school principals in this province on the possible intrusion of local political candidates during the holding of graduation rites here.
    "As much as possible, let us refrain from inviting local politicians in our graduation programs to avoid complaints that will damage the outcome of the program and image of our schools," stressed Dr. Alma Dolores- Bodino, schools division superintendent here. (+)

PGMA's NLAQ addresses poverty and hunger in North Luzon

    Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (March 12) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's programs under the North Luzon Agribusiness Quadrangle have uplifted the plight of the poor sectors in Northern Luzon, an report here bared.
    It said the government through the NLAQ has pursued various programs to provide farmers security and ownership of the land they are tilling by distributing 312,771 hectares of private agricultural lands and public lands to 383,368 agrarian reform beneficiaries from 2001 to 2009 including the development of some 176,373 hectares of new and idle lands which generated about 242,416 jobs.     Manila (12 March) -- Isinailalim na ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang buong isla ng Mindanao sa state of calamity.
    Ang desisyon ay ibinatay ng Pangulo sa rekomendasyon ng National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) at ng Department of Energy (DOE) upang matugunan ang lumalalang power crisis sa rehiyon bunsod ng nararanasang El Nino phenomenon. (+)

Forecast: Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with light rains while the eastern section of Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast and East will prevail over Luzon and coming from the Northeast over the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the Northeast with slight to moderate seas.
