For ten straight days and nights since May sets in, it has been raining intermittently, in drizzles, in continuous downpour for a couple of hours, and cloudy skies often frustrated nocturnal fiesta activities as rains eventually developed from little drops. (+) | Region 8 task force focuses on accelerated hunger mitigation programs Tacloban City (May 13) -- The Regional Anti Hunger Task Force of Eastern Visayas which is headed by the National Nutrition Council, continuous to focus on the Accelerated Mitigation Programs of the Arroyo Administration with the end-in-view of making a significant contribution in the Millennium Development Goals on the reduction of hunger and poverty in the country. Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Ms. Carina Z. Santiago informed that the MDG (millennium development goal) 1 is to reduce the proportion of population whose consumption is below minimum levels of dietary energy requirement by 2015. FORECAST:
Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas including Palawan which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the southwest over Southern Luzon and Visayas with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the southwest with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. |
